Welcome to our peaceful, happy homestead here in beautiful Tennessee! We moved to our dream place in the country a few years ago, a dream we’ve shared for years. We’re living a more peaceful life now, definitely life in the key of happy!
A little about the homestead
This is a point in our lives we have worked toward for many years, and finally reached a place where we enjoy creating a more sustainable lifestyle.
Now, my hope is to get back to quilting, a love I shared with my late mother-in-law. Gran was a self-taught quilter who spent countless hours in the den quilting love into each stitch.
Plenty of projects are underway around The Place at any one time. For example, in the spring, our main project is breaking up the garden and getting the plants in the ground, then we can look forward to harvest time!
Sadly, the weather hasn’t been cooperating this winter and spring and that slowed progress. Those April showers came early and drenched The Place in March!

Farmer John and the grand loves are also building a new chicken coop for the current flock. We’re working toward getting our incubator setup started soon, and we will need to get the gals moved to a new home, so we can focus on incubating.
Sharing and connecting
We will post more pictures as we move along. Canning season will be gearing up before we know it and there is lots to prepare.
Of course, we can’t leave cooking out of the mix, right? If you like to cook then we have a common passion! I’ll share plenty of down-home, scratch recipes with you, along with tips I’ve learned along the way.
